
Meet the Women-Led Web3 Startups Featured at Thousand Faces’ Demo Day
On Wednesday, Thousand Faces, a web3 community-based investment group, hosted its demo day with the top 10 startups from its Female Founder Accelerator program. This event coincided with International Women’s Day and featured women-led businesses focused on sustainable development goals (SDGs).
About Thousand Faces’ Female Founder Accelerator
The accelerator program’s first cohort accepted 30 startups from a pool of over 220 applicants across 76 countries. The top 10 startups are pitching for a spot in the top five, which will make them eligible for a $1 million investment and join the Thousand Faces portfolio.
Meet the Top 10 Startups
1. Qerat Startup
- Founder: Salma Essa
- Location: Syria
- Product/Service: Food product using carob as a resource
- Partnerships: UNICEF, 22 farmers, and 20 schools
Qerat Startup aims to provide ‘food for good,’ or food security, by utilizing a commonly wasted resource. Their prototype consists of coffee, sweetened bread, and chocolate, making it suitable for diabetic, cardiac, and hypertension patients.
2. Majik Water
- Founder: Beth Wanjiku Koigi
- Location: Kenya
- Product/Service: Clean water technology using air-to-water devices
Majik Water is a Kenyan social enterprise that provides access to clean drinking water in arid and semi-arid regions. They have over 20 large-scale devices and 10 small-scale devices producing over 300,000 liters of water monthly for over 2,500 beneficiaries in Kenya, Somalia, and Ethiopia.
3. CONCAT Tech
- Founder: Laura Jardine
- Location: U.K./Lebanon
- Product/Service: Web development company providing long-term employment for marginalized communities
CONCAT creates websites for clients internationally while offering sustainable employment to marginalized communities like refugees. They have over 50 clients across 12 countries and have generated $90,000 in revenue.
4. Beth Wanjiku Koigi – Majik Water
Majik Water is a Kenyan social enterprise that aims to provide access to clean drinking water in arid and semi-arid regions through air-to-water technology and devices.
